Co-Founder of Yoga Therapists of Alaska
C-IAYT, E-RYT200, YACEP
Shelley has been practicing yoga for nearly 2 decades, and has been teaching since 2005. She initially immersed herself in Iyengar and Ashtanga styles of yoga and she began teaching yoga when she lived in the small Alaskan community of Hope, Alaska. The range of yoga students, from ages 5 to 95, taught her that yoga is for every 'body', and dedicated herself to finding adaptable ways to incorporate yoga practice into a broad range of people's lives, at what ever capacity it was welcomed.
In 2007 she discovered the power of Sanskrit and Vedic chanting from her teacher, Dr. Katy Jane. She has focused the past 10 years on refining her Sanskrit pronunciation, meditation practice, and knowledge of Eastern philosophy.
In 2017, she became a certified yoga therapist with IAYT, and enjoys teaching Sanskrit chanting, yoga for cancer survivors, Parkinson's Disease, and 12- Step Recovery.
